LAVERTY IN THE POINTS

Blusens Aprilia rider Eugene Laverty finished in a hard earned 15th position in today’s 250cc race at Estoril.

Having endured a torrid start to his season Eugene crossed the line in a points scoring posi tion fending off former world champion Manuel Poggiali and Czech rider Karel Abraham at the finish.

Eugene:
“I’m very pleased with this result but it didn’t come easy! I had to fight hard and exchanged paintwork a time or two with Abraham and
Poggiali but it was a very enjoyable race.

I was a little cautious throughout the race as my mind was set on finishing. It was great to be able to battle right to the flag on this bike whereas last year the Honda would destroy the rear tyre and I would gradually drop back. Now I know that I can fight throughout the entire race this season.

We began slowly on Friday morning as the
chassis setting was completely different to Jerez but we made steady progress throughout the weekend. I’m much happier with the bike now and I feel that this is just the first step, my season starts here.
