Eugene Laverty 2008
NIGHTMARE IN THE DESERT
FOR LAVERTY
Eugene Laverty’s season got off to a terrible start with a non finish in this evening’s 250cc race at the circuit of Losail, Qatar. Having qualified 20th following a troublesome weekend, Laverty believed he could set things right in the race but a first lap crash dashed any hope of a points scor ing finish.
Eugene:
“This weekend has been one to forget. The test here previous had went so well but come the GP we encountered one problem after another, the majority of which can only be put down to ill fortune. The lap times I’d been fit to do so consistently at the test would have put me in the running for 10th position in the race so I’m rather frustrated to say the least! I’m just sorry for the team because I took down my teammate in the crash as well.
However, I must now draw positives from the past nine days and look forward to Jerez in three weeks time. My lap times on this bike have ex ceeded the expectations of the team so with a bit more luck expect to see us closer to the sharp end.”
Eugene has fond memories of the Jerez circuit having picked up his first World Championship points at the same venue last year. He’ll be hop ing to gather yet more fond memories there this year on March 30th.
